The second annual Brodstone Big Idea event was hosted on Tuesday, January 23rd by the Brodstone Foundation.

Similar to Shark Tank, Brodstone employees were encouraged to present their innovative ideas concerning equipment, technology, or initiatives that could enhance patient care at Brodstone Healthcare. Out of the 12 proposals received from employees, 10 finalists had the opportunity to pitch their concepts to a panel of judges, which included members of the Brodstone Foundation Board of Directors. The Brodstone Foundation pledged over $9,000 to back the winning ideas. Oakeson Steiner Wealth & Retirement also pledged $5,000. After thorough evaluation by the judges, 5 projects were chosen for funding during the event. The top finalists and their ideas were:

  • Amy Nash – EMS-2C Electronic Portable Muscular Stimulator

  • Jonathan Cabardo – Phlebotomy Cart

  • Maddie Peterson/Jennifer Simpkins – Pediatric Treasure Chests

  • Paige Hild – “Why You Hurt” Paint Neuroscience Education System

  • Whitni Rust – Vascular Access Team (VAT) (Equipment + Education for 6 Nurses)

Heather Erickson, the Senior Director of Development at Brodstone Healthcare, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “The Brodstone Big Idea provides a platform for employees to showcase their innovative ideas and passions here at Brodstone. This event is a unique way for our Foundation to give back to the employees through various pieces of equipment and initiatives that impact patient care daily.
